To begin the setup, firstly you will have to turn on the Netgear Wi-Fi extender, then:
- Wait till the power LED turns Green.
- If the power LED doesn’t turn on, then check the power cable and the adapter.
- Now, connect the extender to the computer and check the connection if successfully established or not. You can make connections either wirelessly or physically.
- Go to the network list and check for the Netgear extender SSID.
- Open a web browser and enter Mywifiext or 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.
- You need to enter the login details like the username and the password. Tap ‘Login’ and the ‘Netgear Genie setup’ will appear.
- Go to the ‘New extender setup’.
- The process will go smoothly after the smart setup screen appears.
- Let the Genie scans the currently available network.
- Select the network you want to extend and click ‘Continue’.
- You will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password carefully for the network and click ‘Enter’.
- Click on the option which says ‘Use the same security and passkey as that of the existing network.
- After this, you will find the extender will start using the same username and password as that of your existing network.
- If you want to change, you can change the name and password of your extender.
- Click ‘Finish’ at last to complete the genie extender setup.
