Types of Orthodontic Treatments

There are several types of orthodontic treatments that can be used to help fix teeth. Some treatments, such as braces and Invisalign, use metal wires and brackets to move teeth into the correct position. Others, like clear aligners, use small plastic discs that are placed on top of your teeth and moved around until they line up correctly. Braces: Braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment and work by moving teeth into the correct position. They usually take about two years to complete but can often be shortened if done properly. There are a variety of braces available, including metal wires and brackets, clear aligners, and fixed (non-removable) braces.

Invisalign: It is a series of custom-made clear aligners that slowly move your teeth into the correct position without requiring any metal or other appliances. The aligners are worn for three months at a time and then removed for a weeklong cleaning period before being replaced. This process can be repeated every two years as needed without having to remove any teeth or have dental work done elsewhere.

Fixed (Non-Removable) Braces: Fixed braces are the least common type of braces and work by holding your teeth in position using metal or other durable materials. They can be removed if needed, but typically last longer than other types of braces and may be less expensive in the long run. Fixed braces come in both metal and plastic varieties and are either removable or non-removable.
